Frugal Friday

I almost let the day slip by with out doing my post. I got caught up watching Seinfeld, they are waiting in the Chinese restaurant and George needs to use the pay phone. It made me think that it was not really that long ago that we did not have cell phones. I know I will not leave my home with out my cell and up until a few days ago we had more phones than any 2 people should. Anyway, on to the good stuff!

I posted a status on Facebook this week saying I wanted someone to teach me about the coupon game. I hear about people going to the grocery store and coupling coupons and sale adds they end up getting all kinds of stuff for little to nothing. I was told about 2 good sites to help you when trying to play the game. Grocery Game and Faithful Provisions. Grocery Game offers a free trial to help you out then you have to pay after 4 or so weeks. I am not really keen on that, after all I want to save money. Faithful Provisions is free and they have an email and Facebook page to keep you connected and get you on the path to saving.

Hope you are able to take this little bit of info and use it to make your wallet a little fatter! :)

Frugal Friday

I hope to make this a regular theme on my blog. I know I, for one, am always on the look out for a good deal or money saving tips. Feel free to let me know what you do to put a little extra money in your pocket these days.

I have a love for individual snack items. What is not to love about them?? Keep them in the cupboard so you can grab it on your way out the door, when you need a quick snack or even leave them in the car. The convenience is wonderful, the price not so much.

I have found I can stretch my buck by packaging my own "snack" bags.
  • 100 Ziploc bags with out a coupon cost around $3.50. And lets face it I don't buy the name brand unless it is on sale and I have a coupon (Publix has an awesome line of baggies that I usually go for).
  • A pack of Goldfish goes for around $2.50
That means if you get 8 servings from the bag of Goldfish you would have spent around $0.30 a serving. Compare that to $0.70 a serving for the grab and go bags.

Now that is food for thought!
